After a relatively straight forward drive into town we finally entered the arena at 7.30 grabbed a beer and went to look at the merchandise. This was the usual collection of t-shirts, skinny tops, cd's and what now seems to be trendy... tote bags!! T-shirts at £20 seemed rather steep though. But being an appreciative fan I did buy one.
The audience I suppose was predictable... although I hadn't. It was on average late 40's (with the exception of my 15 year old daughter) and seated... this was not going to be a swinging, jigging having fun kind of thing.
This middle aged audience ... I was left wondering how oftern any of them went to live music, or were radio 2 listeners who the proceeded to talk rudely through the warm up. It wasn't that they were bad, just that the audience was rude. If you don't want to listen go outside and talk with your mates over a beer!!!
Alison and Percy came on 8.30 and ripped straight into tracks from Rising Sands. An evening of delights ensude with 20 min sessions from Krauss showing off her virtuosity and skilled handling of various blue grass tunes. T Bone Walker had a session too, belting out an eclectic mix. There were even a couple of Zeppelin covers including Battle OF Evermore and When the Levee Breaks. |
